The 1.21 Fairies & Magic update
was a major update announced during MINECON 2023 and released on December 15, 2024. The update added the new Magic Forest biome and several other mini-updates. This is all fan-made and speculation.

Additions:

Magic Forest Biome: This new biome consisted of massive trees with vibrant colors, bright green fields with unique flowers, and mushroom houses where fairies lived. The biome consisted of many smaller biomes including a dark spooky forest where the player would be constantly effected with blindness, a silver sea where the sylphs dwell, and a volcanic biome. To add to its brilliant design, Roman cities surrounded the monstrous volcano. In the heart of this volcano, a Red Dragon is slumbering, and the reward for defeating this impossible boss was a unique dragon egg. This dragon egg could be cooked on a campfire to hatch a baby dragon. One could dye their pet dragon any color they want, and they could ride the dragon anywhere.

Jungle village: Jungle treehouse villages were added to the jungle. A new creature known as junglins were added to this jungle village to bring some more life to the jungle. In addition, these junglins could be used as grappling hooks to aid with mining and exploration. A new underground library was also added to the jungle.

End Forests: The End Forests was a new biome added to the End. It consisted of purple trees, enderite, new end mobs, and End Ruins. End Ruins were temples with nether portals made entirely of crying obsidian. The temples appear to be in ruin because of the portals. Nothing edible could be found here.

Ancient City: More decorations were added to the Ancient City, including stone chests, and ancient artifacts.

Cherry Blossom Village: The Cherry Blossom Village was designed to look like a Japanese style village. The villagers also had a unique outfit design.

Bundles: Bundles were finally added to the game.

Magic Wand: The Magic Wand was a new ranged weapon crafted from a nether star and two blaze rods. It could shoot balls of white light which would set mobs on fire and do a decent amount of damage. It can attack multiple mobs simultaneously and can block arrows like a shield.

Enchantments: Lots of new enchantments were added, including Silk Touch II.

Potion of drenched: The potion of drenched is brewed using the heart of the sea. It allows the player to use a riptide trident even when they are not in rain or water. Players can use frost walker boots to walk on lava (turning it into cobblestone). However, it also causes the player to drown, so you also require a water breathing potion or a turtle helmet. The potion reduces falling damage by 12% and projectile damage by 8%.

Potion of Hive: When the player is attacked, bees are summoned which defend the player. The potion is brewed using a honeycomb.

Blocks:

Plants: More plants were added which can be obtained from the sniffer. These include plants which could be used to make new dye colors. A Love Lily was a new flower which could be used to make love potions, capable of breeding mobs and villagers. Ancient arabica was a bean found by a sniffer and it could be brewed to make coffee.

Hematite: This new block could only be acquired in the Lazurite. It is slightly more durable than iron, and it slowly breaks in water overtime.

Mobs:

Junglins: Junglins are playful creatures with stretchy limbs. They were added to make mining and exploration easier.

Nightlights: These yellow allays behave very differently. They can only be found in the magic biome. By giving it a cookie, you could tame it. The nightlight would follow you around and glow to illuminate the surrounding area.

Fairies: Fairies were a new mob which behaved as villagers for the Magic Biome.

Sylphs: Sylphs were a humanoid mob that wore green, blue, and white clothing. They have the powers of invisibility, intangibility, and telekinesis. Sylphs are friendly and can even be traded with. It becomes hostile if it is attacked causing it to pick-up nearby blocks with their telekinesis, and they will launch the blocks towards the player. They trade plant-based items.

Unicorns: These horses spawn in the Magic Forest biome. They have a horn on their head and behave pretty much exactly like normal horses. Unicorns can jump twice as high and they can run on water. Additionally, unicorns are the only mob capable of being equipped with an elytra.

Copper golem: The copper golem was designed to significantly enhance the game's redstone mechanics and teach players the basics of programming. The golem could operate a copper keyboard, which would trigger a redstone signal. Punch cards, programmed in a keypunch block, provide the golem with step-by-step instructions, allowing it to perform a variety of tasks. You can name the punch cards when you program it, so you will know what it does. Copper golems could be used for automatic farms, weapon defense systems, storage sorting, and so much more.

With the addition of the copper golem, many new copper items were added. This includes copper pipes, copper conveyor belts which would help allays sort items, autocrafters, plant observers, copper hoppers, and cameras.

Moobloom: The moobloom spawns in the Magic Forest biome.

Wraths: Wraths were a new mob created to provide a purpose for rotten flesh. They could protect villages and your base from hostile mobs. Wraths were flying bird-like creatures made of rotten flesh. They had three black eyes on each side of their head. To spawn a wrath, one needed to craft a flesh egg. To craft a flesh egg, tattered flesh was required. Nine rotten flesh could be put in a crafting table to craft tattered flesh. Then, eight tattered flesh were placed around a bone in the crafting table to create the flesh egg. Placing the flesh egg on a campfire summoned a wrath. Wraths had 20 health points and were immune to fire, lava, freezing, drowning, and effects. Skeletons and pillagers would attempt to shoot at them with their bows/crossbows. Wraths tended to stay near a pool of lava or wherever they were spawned. If a hostile mob was nearby, the wrath would pick up the mob and drop it into the lava. If there was no lava, it would shoot a flame projectile out of its mouth to set the mob on fire. Wraths would attack any hostile mob found in the Overworld, including zombies, phantoms, drowned, skeletons, creepers, witches, pillagers, etc. They would not attack players. Wraths could be bred by feeding them rotten flesh, causing them to drop a flesh egg. Feeding them cooked porkchops would heal them, but it would not breed them. They would come towards players if they were holding rotten flesh. Similar to a cow, wraths could be milked with a bucket, but instead of getting milk, players got lava.

Bosses:

Red dragon: If you think the warden was frightening, you are terribly mistaken! Don’t wake it up, don’t take its gold, and stay away from it!

Changes:

Touch controls: More options were added for the PE touch controls, including a second jump button above the joystick.

World options: Optional 3D item physics were added to the game.
Parity and game performance: Both parity and game performance received significant improvements.
