Hey, guys! Today I'll be talking about a system unique to PMC: the DIAMONDS.
Before I even start, I'm letting you guys know, I got a lot of bad feedback on the color overload on my last blog, so this one will be entirely BLACK. If you have any suggestions on how I should format my work, I honestly want to hear it in the comments below.
So, to the point!! DIAMONDS. What are they?! A diamond can be taken several different ways depending on who's seeing the diamond. I'll start right where the diamonds start: with the giver.
Giving diamonds is EASY. It's just clicking a single button on your screen and seeing a number tick up to 1 more than it already was. So very simple, yet it means so much!! Why do people give diamonds?
- To show that they agreed with a blog.
- To show that they think that the creator did a good job.
- To show that they found the submission interesting or "diamond-worthy".
I personally am very loose with my diamond-giving; handing them out to people that have eye-catching content posted. Very often a diamond leads to a subscription, but that's another blog. People give diamonds to submissions that are well-done, artful, unique, and noteworthy, so if you want to bump up your diamond count, make them worth the attention!
Now for the second side of the diamonds: the recipients. It's always a nice thing to get on PMC and find that someone has left you a diamond on one of your submissions. It's just a good feeling!! But how do you handle the diamond-getting?
Do you: a) put "Please give me a diamond!" at the bottom of your submission, b) bump your submission repeatedly to attract attention, or c) say nothing about diamonds. If you're a B, you'll probably get banned. I'm somewhere between A and C, I put something similar to it at the bottom of my blogs but leave it empty on my skins. I honestly don't think it makes much of a difference except to tie it all together at the very end, which is pretty unnecessary on in-game content such as skins or projects.
But what happens when someone DOES give you a diamond?
Sometimes they'll just diamond without saying anything. If this happens, it's probably a good idea to check out their profiles as a thank-you for their positive feedback on your stuff. It's not marketing to get diamonds in exchange for a reward; it's just being polite. Less often, they'll put good feedback and "Diamond for you!!" in the comments. This is a nice thing to do if you have specific reasons for liking something. If this happens, the right thing to do is to respond with "Thanks!" and maybe a little smiley face. It really makes them feel good. Trust me, I've been on the receiving end of that one.
All in all, the gift of a diamond is a great thing to give someone. It means that you thought that their content is something that is worthy of their attention, and that you would like to see more from that person.
Thanks for reading my blog!! Please leave your feedback in the comments below; it really helps. Oh, and... please consider giving me the gift of a diamond. ;)
