Steve walked towards the mines on a rainy night, hoping that tonight would be his lucky night, a night when he would find the one thing he truly wanted - diamonds. While walking down towards the last layer of the mine, he remembered all the things he had lost, all the pain he had gone through, but most importantly, the one person he had ever loved.

Long ago, Steve lived with Alex, his closest friend. She was a friendly, pleasant companion, she always helped him when he was in need. One day, Steve and Alex went down into the caves on a quest for the ultimate treasure - diamonds. Alex had always wanted to touch a diamond, so Steve constantly searched for one.
After mining for hours, they stumbled upon a large ravine. The ravine was filled with ores of all types, but no diamonds. They carefully walked on the rocks surrounding the deep ravine.
“Don’t look down!” - Steve told Alex.
And she would have listened to him, if only one thing had not caught her eye. At the other side of the ravine, she saw what she was hoping to find - diamonds. But as her look turned away from the rocks she stepped on, she tripped. She barely held on to the rocks, desperately trying to not fall.
“Don’t let me fall!” - she cried.
Steve held her for as long as he could, but in the end she slipped, and fell to her death. As for Steve, he quickly came down to the spot where she fell. There was no body, she had just vanished. He climbed up to the surface and went to bed, hoping that she would be back when he wakes up.
But Alex was not there in the morning, or any morning after that…

Steve had reached the last layer of the mine - bedrock. He could not go deeper, so he started mining. Carrying his 3 iron pickaxes, he mined and mined, until he stopped to eat something and rest. Suddenly, out of the silent darkness he heard a whisper:
“I…for….”
Then it stopped. Steve was frightened, he had not experienced anything like this before in the mines. He quickly turned left and mined a path. While mining, he hit a cave system.
“Better in here than back there with those voices!” - he thought.
Walking through the caves, he had a feeling that he had been here before. And then, he heard the voices again:
“Beneath...the...bedrock...”
Steve quickly ran, ran as fast as he could through the caves. He ignored every ore he saw, and just ran. The only thought in his head was to get out of the caves. And suddenly, he stopped, for he had seen a place that brought back terrible memories, or rather, a single memory…

And there it was, the place that Steve had wanted to forget so desperately - the ravine. He did not want to go there, but there was a part of him that was telling him he needed to, something drawing him towards the rocks.
He walked slowly towards the bottom of the ravine, thinking about Alex, about how she fell.
“It’s was all my fault!” - Steve cried out.
At the spot where Alex fell, a hand grasped from below the bedrock. Steve was too frightened to move. And then, she was in front of him, Alex was in front of him.
“Don’t hurt me, please!” - Steve said.
He stepped back and hit a wall. As Alex came closer, Steve knew he had nowhere to run. Just as he thought it was the end, Alex gently touched his cheek with the palm of her hand.
“I...forgive...you…” - she whispered as her spirit faded away.
