Fall shows hints of itself all around the city. From chilly winds to orange leaves, and even up to the pumpkin spice latte being served in cafe Whiskers. That's where Cloud, the CEO of worldwide business Sky High Co., was waiting for his childhood friends to arrive.

Cloud glanced at the clock on the wall. 5 mintues late he thought to himself. He shook his head. They had farther to travel then he did. Of course, no sooner than the thought came, two cats stepped in the door. A grin broke out on one of their faces, and he came rushing over. "Cloud! It's so great to see you!" he exclaimed. Cloud couldn't help but smile back. "Spade. Same to you," he replied, glancing over at the other cat, who was standing nervously by the door. "Citrus, I do hope you're doing well. Would you like to join us?" he invited, in a somewhat soothing voice. Citrus glared at him. "Only at the word of your honor," he retorted, sitting down next to Spade. An awkward silence hung over them for a moment. Spade ended up breaking it. "So, Citrus, should we order something?" he asked, looking from face to face. Cloud nodded. "Go ahead, I already ate." In truth, he hadn't. But he didn't want to distract himself from his plan to separate the two.

They stayed for a while longer, catching up on each other's lives. It was getting dark as they finally headed out, the street lights already starting to come on. They were expecting a nice, warm, night. But one of them had other plans.

It was a bright, sunny morning. Cars were already beeping through streets, cats bustling all about. Sadly, it was wasted on both Spade and Cloud. Last night, Citrus had disappeared from the hotel room she had shared with Spade, leaving no trace. Even the innkeepers hadn't seen her leave.

Spade felt awful. At first, he thought Citrus was playing a game, so decided not to bother playing it. As time went on, with not a peep from her, he finally realized that Citrus may in fact not be there. What a great cousin I am he thought ruefully. Less than a day in the city, and I already lost my little cousin.

Cloud, for his part, was more calm. Instead of panicking, he called up a searching party, and asked them to search the nearby parks. By noon, they hadn't come up with anything there, so he tasked them to the streets. After only an hour of searching, they found Citrus. But not in the way they hoped. At first, it looked like she was asleep. However, after a shake and a quick check for a pulse, they determined that yes, she was asleep, but to put it kindly, she couldn't wake up.

After they had found Citrus' body, and told Cloud, they called the cops. Unlike most cases similar to this, a special force was assigned, mainly because it involved someone as big as Cloud. There were other, more private reasons for it, but those don't need to be known... yet.

Oliver glanced around his office, checking if he had missed anything. He had recently been assigned to a private case, and was instructed to work as an undercover agent, posing as a guard. He stretched his back, feeling his spine crack and his suit slightly crumple as he bent back over. He sighed. Cases like this never end well, he thought. Of course, that means news will be all over it. He sighed again, louder this time. Oliver hated the news. They were always in people's business, never letting them get privacy. He glanced at his watch. "Well, I guess I'll have to deal with it," he muttered, turning toward the door.

Cloud and Spade were meeting in Cloud's office, discussing Citrus' death. Spade still felt guilty, but at this point anger at both himself and Cloud was coming through.

"And why didn't you let us stay with you?" he asked Cloud, for maybe the tenth time. Cloud sighed. "Spade, I told you that I didn't have any room in here. It's all offices and most of my people work overnight." Spade glared at him, but couldn't find a good response. The silence dragged on, broken only by a distant beeping from the nearby computer rooms. After the silence went on for about a minute, Cloud spoke. "We have to organize Citrus' funeral." He spoke in a gentle voice, which only proceeded to anger Spade more. "Don't. Talk. To. Me," he replied in a strained voice, getting close to bursting.

"Spade, I didn't-"

"YOU DIDN'T DO ANYTHING!" Spade finally broke.

"I-"

"You what? Go on! I haven't seen any employees around here Cloud. Actually, I was told they all worked from home. Don't you remember?"

Cloud didn't know what to say.

"You could've protected us! You should've protected us! BUT YOU DIDN'T. Why Cloud, why? I trusted you." Spade's mind was starting to piece things together. Bad things.

"Spade, please, if I had-" he trailed off.

"IF YOU HAD WHAT?" he boomed.

Cloud let go of his act, and stepped toward him. He spoke ominously quiet. "If I hadn't stopped myself from killing Citrus the day you left me here, then this would've never happened."

Spade's eyes grew wide. "W-what..?" he started shivering.

"Oops, I said.." Cloud drew his paw back. "Too much." He slashed it down Spade's chest, opening a large gash. Spade tried to scream, but only a choked gurgle escaped. He then fell to the floor, lifeless. Cloud sighed. He really didn't fancy doing that, but alas, Spade's knowing wouldn't have been good for business.

After a few seconds, a guard walked into the room and pulled off his hat.

"Mr. Cloud, under the Hailom law, you are under arrest. After committing the murder of two cats, one of them seen by a witness, you are sentenced to a 10 year jail term." All Cloud could do was glare in an angry haze as more guards entered and dragged him off to prison.

Cool story.
Not really too sure what to say in terms of critique other than noting that there seems to be some errors in terms of spelling and stuff like that (there is one instance where "minutes" is misspelled for example), but I wouldn't say it's too major. I'm assuming grammar isn't really supposed to be a main focus anyways, even though this is repurposed from a school thing.
Overall, interesting story with a dark yet entertaining turn. Unfortunately, I'm not really the best at coming up with names or titles, so I don't know if I'm much help on that front.
(It took a while to figure out what to say in this comment. :/)
