This Herobrine was completely normal like Steve (except the white eyes), until he wanted to explore the new caves thanks to 1.18 in development he could go further & see what's to come. However when exploring those new caves he ended up at the very bottom of the world with a 4x4 hole in the bedrock that led into the endless void. The bedrock there was not the normal colored bedrock, there void had changed the bedrock texture into a grain like texture. Upon getting too close and wondering how this even got here, Herobrine himself started to change into this grain-like texture all over, from the color of his skin to his clothing was now the same grain-like texture the bedrock had except it had made the colors he had before grainy. Herobrine eventually found a mirror & was shocked. Steve and Alex wouldn't even go near him because they thought he was infected, but he wasn't. This only spreads from that one spot & if someone had been exposed it is not able to be passed from another person. Herobrine was now stuck like this & unable to fix himself back to normal.

This is my skin entry for the Halloween Community event. I call this, "Void torn Herobrine" He has been torn basically by the void & his exposure to it costed him this new grainy appearance. He is still the same Herobrine deep down, but only his appearance has changed. However, thanks to the exposure to the void, his powers were greatly boosted & he's now even more powerful than before.
