I predicted this war would come, just not to this extent. Our neighbouring lands have been in rivalry for centuries, and we knew that someday a planned battle would be among us. Today’s the dreaded anniversary when the Bandits, as we like to call them, unleashed a nuclear war on our land, the Archides. Our home, our people, vanished into ashes in a matter of seconds. There are now only a few dozen of us left, who managed to survive and adapt to this new world. The harsh weather conditions make it impossible to be outside for prolonged periods of time, or frostbite starts forming on our weakened limbs. The Bandits, who still roam our land, mark themselves with a dark-coloured ‘X’ on their left leg. We live, or shall I say hide from them, underground, and in nearby caves that were formed from the bombs. We are heavily equipped with arsenals, and head cloaks that we managed to steal from a nearby Bandit encampment, to disguise ourselves as one of them. That is how we get by and survive; living as a lion in a sheep’s body. One day, that lion will emerge, and seek vendetta. That day is soon to come...
