Runaway Angel.




The 22nd century had marked the start of a new era. Futuristic items that we only dream of now, were invented. People could go into space without a rocket. People could communicate with a glass lense in front of their eye.


The 23rd century was a time of peace. Everyone was content. Peopleo s lifelines were made longer with scientific manipulation. People could be with their loved ones longer.


However, in the 24th century, people started to become enraged. The demand for perfection was becoming too high, and seemed impossible. But it wasno t. Anyone who wasno t perfect, was executed on the spot. Their remains would be sent to an inactive black hole, never to be seen again. Scientists claimed to do this for the better good, and said they were eliminating beings that wereno t worthy, to lower the population and cleanse the population. This enraged, frustrated, and scared mankind. This, was the start of a rebellious era.


What if you wereno t perfect? What if you didno t want to die?


In the 25th century, a girl named Adala Rose was the 22nd human to be born with wings. With genetic manipulation, scientists had created a vaccine that would improve the genes in an imperfect human, to avoid slaughtering them. The genetic mutilation didno t appear to work on the human injected with the vaccine, but their offspring.


Now, because Adala was born with wings, she was destined to become a Space Police Officer. Citizens called them, the Angels. Adala trained all her life to become one. She thought she wanted to become an Angel. But maybe it was just because that was all she ever knew she had to be.


On Adalao s 16th birthday, she was finally accepted into the Police Department and was ready to take off for her first patrol. She was excited, but a sinking feeling was digging at her heart.


When Adala came back, she was sad. It was cruel. The Angels wereno t angels at all. If someone tripped, they had to brutally beat them. If someone stole, they had to kill them. If someone wasno t perfect... They had to decide if they wished to kill them, or bring them in to be tested on. Adala did not like it there.


Adala went home, devastated and torn. She decided she would confide in her mother. Her mother didno t appreciate this, and responded with, o Suck it up, Adala. It doesno t matter if you like it. You were born with wings. Act like it.o


So Adala tried to. She tried to ignore the fact that she knew the way the Angels were acting was wrong and cruel, and continued to work as an Angel. After days and weeks and months, Adala finally decided it was wrong and there was no avoiding it.


She went home for the last time, and gathered enough materials to last her a month, and took off into starry space.


But... This wasno t perfect. This wasno t what mankind was supposed to do! This wasno t how an Angel was supposed to act! The other Angels took note of this almost immediately, and flew after her. They tried shooting her, they tried shutting down her data lense. Nothing worked. But then... Adala felt searing pain in her wing. They hit her. They finally hit her. They tore her wing, almost in half, but not quite. And there, Adala began to fall. She had nothing to keep her up, she had nothing at all...
