Sonja is a warrior from the steppes of Hyrkannia, a large country bordered to the east by the Vilayet sea.
After a tragic accident in which her family is massacred by a group of thugs, she manages to survive and receives amazing combat skills from a mysterious red entity. Since this event she has been called Red Sonja both by her allies and her enemies because of her distinctive red hair, an unusual hair color for Hyrkannian people.
She is a ally and a friend of Conan the Cimmerian, they sometimes meet on the battlefield and together they are almost invincible.
