               Jeez this one was complicated. Anyways, Raiden was child soldier trained by Solidius Snake during the Liberian civil war. There he earned a reputation as "Jack the Ripper" for his cruel methods of killing. Afterwards, Solidius tried to rehabilitate him, but to no success. Later on, he join a Anti-Patriot army (the Patriots are basically the Illuminati, except they actually run the U.S.). The Patriots capture him and turn him into a Cyborg-Samurai, taking advantage of Raiden's past war-career. He escaped and helped Solid Snake go against Liquid Ocelot. Afterwards, he joined a Private Military Corporation (PMC... irony) called Maverick, and was attacked during a mission in Liberia by a rival company Desperado. Nearly killed, Raiden went through heavy cybornetic surgery and became a stronger, faster, and overall deadlier weapon of revenge in the amazing action game Metal Gear: Rising Revengeance.
