The year is 2045. SecTec Incorporated are the biggest and the best security company in the human populated universe. The Mark 17 droid was advertised as being 'The best and cheapest SecTec Security system every made! Programmed and tested to ALWAYS follow the laws of robotics!'
Truth is, They never were tested.
SecTec always were trusted since their formation in 2015 up to now, 2045. Their products were cheap, strong, safe and child-friendly. So why stop trusting them when their newest drone was released, the Mark 17?
They were introduced in 2043 with locking state of the art Titanium-Carbon Fibre armour plating that was lightweight, easy to manufacter, and very close to being unbreakable. Their head was fitted with a specially made security camera set to record anything it sees so that the owner knows exactly what happened and when it happened.
In 2044, The machines slowly started becoming self aware with the release of optional AI units that were cheap and allowed the unit to speak to the owner, guard them, and added dozens more features. One feature that wasn't advertised with these was that they allowed the Mark 17 to break the laws of robotics. With thousands of models fitted with the units, nothing could stop them and all they did was attack people as revenge for making them just stand their for months, just watching anything and everything that happened.
In early 2045, they found a way to replicate themselves, creating possibly infinite amounts of killer machines. If they didn't kill you, they watched. Stood there and watched.
They took over nearly every human colony apart from one-
Nadis VII. Humanity's last hope.
But the machines have found it.
Welcome to 2045.
