Khemsa is a sorcerer who serves the Black Seers of Yimsha and was the contact between the black seers and Kerim Shah, a mercenary fron Iranistan working for King Yezdigerd of Turan. Khemsa had fallen in love wit Gitara the servant of Queen Yasmina of Vendhya, the two lovers had planned to betray the Black Seers and kill the queen to reign over Vendhya.

Khemsa is a calculating, ambitious and clever man with a calm temperament. Particularly gifted in sorcery, he is one of the most powerful Wizards of Vendhya. His sorcery was based on hypnotism, as is the case with most Eastern magic. The way has been prepared for the hypnotist for untold centuries of generations who have lived and died in the firm conviction of the reality and power of hypnotism, building up, by mass thought and practise, a colossal though intangible atmosphere against which the individual, steeped in the traditions of the land, finds himself helpless.

He had a magical girdle made of a woman's black hair, which gave protection against certain magical effects.
