Justinian or Ioustinianos (Ἰουστινιανός), titled "Slit-nosed" (Ῥινότμητος) was a Byzantine and Roman emperor in the late 7th and early 8th century. He was the great-great grandson of Heraclius. He was deposed and exiled to Crimea and had a very tumultuous relationship with the government in general. His ambitious approach is recognizable, but his temper that often accompanied it would define his career as emperor. What was done alongside his exile was his nose was removed and upon his return to his second reign, he donned a golden nose. He oversaw the Quintisext Council, also known as the Penthekte (Πενθέκτη) Council and the Council of Trullo. Most of the canons produced were regarding ritual and liturgical stipulations.
