In the original game, there were known to only be 7 colors for human souls: Red, Amber, Yellow, Green, Cyan, Blue, and Magenta (using my terms for the colors, anyway). This makes sense, as they are each of the 7 classical colors of the rainbow and goes with the plot mechanic of requiring 7 souls to shatter the barrier. But what if in another universe... more was needed?

About 3 months before Viola entered the Underground, 11-year-old Fabian was the star of his School Play, and was best known for playing the Prince of each fairy tale. He was planning to be a playwright as his dream job and was best known for being a bright and friendly kid. After leaving the theatre upon a successful performance, however, Fabian took the wrong bus, and was taken to a campsite in Mount Ebott National Park. Not knowing Mount Ebott was or where he was exactly even, Fabian mistakenly climbed the Mountain finding a way home, and fell Underground. As he wasn't supposed to even be among the fallen humans by the code, this resulted in Viola being kept alive by the glitch, the fun value being artificially high and stuck, and the eventual requirement of 7 being bumped up to 8 (the result of an integer overflow). Fabian didn't fall into the Ruins, either, he ended up in Snowdin, and was taken to Asgore by the Guards. Rather than being killed, due to his friendly nature, Fabian simply gave up his soul without a fight. The Determination experiments later began after Fabian's death, and thus the creation of Flowey.
