Constans or Konstas (Κώνστας) II was a Byzantine and Eastern Roman emperor of the 7th century. He was the grandson of Heraclius and was a part of the Heraclian Dynasty. He was referred to as "Bearded" (Πωγωνᾶτος) for his appearance. He famously enacted the Typos of Constans which forbade theological discussion concerning Monenergism and Monothelitism which were becoming controversial subjects. He defeated Slavs in the Balkans and had them moved to Anatolia likely to interfere with the Rashidun Caliphate.
