Alexios (Αλέξιος) II Komnenos (Κομνηνός) was a Byzantine and Eastern Roman emperor of the 12th century. His father, Manuel, died when he was young, and was forced to become emperor before he matured. When the Sultanate of Rum under Kilij Arslan and Hungary under Bela III raided Byzantine territory, Alexios wasn't prepared. It was then that Andronikos I Komnenos usurped the throne. Andronikos celebrated with the Massacre of the Latins.
