this is a fairy tale that my friends have passed down to me and my family.
The Peppermint Fairy
Once upon a time, in the small town of Snow Haven, Halinda, there lived a special fairy who, every Christmas Eve while the children were fast asleep, would carry a scent of peppermint in her trail everywhere she went. She would drop peppermint candy and peppermint-scented toys in their stockings and would give the bad children peppermint that would flame up and bring bad luck to the bearer until the child begged for forgiveness and promised not to be bad anymore. But there was a special child that she visited. This child was from a family of very tiny fairies who were her caregivers after her parents passed away because of a very bad hay fever. The peppermint fairy loved this child because the child would stay up just to see the peppermint fairy. She had very wavy and long blonde hair and always carried around an aura of happiness wherever she went, even on a rainy day or in the saddest of situations, she would still try her best to cheer everyone and would never give up. But one day, when the child had grown old of the peppermint fairy and the peppermint fairy had vanished from the small town of Snow Haven, the peppermint fairy visited her favorite child. The fairy claimed that she couldn't do her job any longer because she had more important business to do and she was getting a bit old, anyways, so the fairy offered the lady to take over for her. The lady told her that she must not give up and she must go on for the happy children in the town, but the peppermint fairy simply declined and said that she couldn't, and even if she could, she mustn't. So, the lady accepted the offer, and she suddenly started to shine and feel fresher and mintier than ever. Maybe she wasn't a fairy, but she was still considered as the Peppermint Lady. She carried out the old peppermint fairy's duties and gave peppermint scented toys and peppermint candy to the good children in their stockings, and gave the bad children giant peppermint chunks that would flame up and place a curse on the child receiving it. The End.
