A local favourite, the longshoreman is a local bar and pub bordering the New Walden Harbour. Constructed in the 1790s as a fishing warehouse, the site originally became a location of national fervour, serving as a point of rendezvous with revolutionaries and smugglers alike. Over time, the land surrounding the building was bought up, with the original warehouse being destroyed in 1832, as the result of an ignited shipment of dynamite that was left aloof from busted smuggling rings a year prior. It was at this point that the landowner, John C Lochlan, Sold the site to a good friend and fishing veteran, Jonathan Codden. What would follow is the initial construction of the longshoreman in the 1840s with whatever funds Codden had available. the site became a hub for weary sailors and travelers visiting the up-and-coming town, a trend that would follow for the next century. Not much is known about the period between 1901 and 2030, as the regional archives had burnt down in a dreadful tragedy, what is known though is that after 2040, the longshoreman became eligible for an application as a historical landmark and was outfitted with the best, upcoming upgrades to building materials and styles of the day, culminating in it's current and unique appearance, a blend of traditional and high tech styles. What hasn't changed though is that the longshoreman remains the hub for harbour talk and a good place for weary travellers to rest their shoulders.
