Good evening gents, ladies. Congrats! You've just taken a sneak peek at one of the most impressive group contest entries ever to grace PMC! That may sound a bit snotty, but when we're finished, you'll see why we can act in that manner!

Terror from the Stars is merely a name, doesn't really give you an idea of what we're doing. So here's a brief overview:

Originally, we were thinking of just doing space stations, or some sort of war, or who knows what. Then my lovely friend out in Chicago gave me the idea for Space Invaders. We started doing that..... but then realized thats more of a closer to Earth thing. So instead, we're basing an interstellar attack on Earth off of Minecraft-themed Galaga.

We are using the provided contest map!
HOWEVER
While most of our competitors build within the asteroid belts, or merely add onto the provided globe, we've flipped the proverbial table, exclaimed "Firetruck That!," and have decided to COMPLETELY REBUILD EVERYTHING to our own background standards. The planet. The Asteroids. Even the SUN...... well we're just cutting that out altogether.

Where many of our other competitors resort to cheap tool usage for building, such as MCEdit & Worldedit, we pride ourselves on handcrafting our builds. Our only exceptions to this will be the formation of our asteroids, which will be voxeled into the map, then hand-edited to their completed shapes, and moving some features of the map once completed in an open space into their proper positions.

Eliminating the Earth on the map is step one. Rebuilding it to cover the entire map at bedrock level is step 2.
Redoing the entire asteroid belt is step 3.

More stuff to come, hit that diamond button, help us achieve our goals of Planetary (Minecraft) Domination!

Disqualified Entry.
Contest Disqualification
You may get as creative as you like, but DO NOT expand outside of the defined SPACE on the map. Builds must be around the planet, it's rings, in space, NOT on land!

This also includes destroying or taking apart the planet.
Please read the contest rules carefully.

Hold up there- The only boundaries specified on the map were x & z boundaries.

Check over your rules again: This time, the goal is to build a spaceship, space station, or whatever nyou can think of to send Steve to space, as long as it's sci-fi (so, no nflying medieval houses, please). Entries must be contained within the asteroid belt of the starter map.

What's Allowed:
  • Creative Mode

  • Teamworkn: Youncan recruit help from others but you are the mastermind / team leader.Ã nThey must understand that only you can enter the final project &npotentially win.Ã If there is significant drama about who created thenproject, we will disqualify it.

  • Map Editing Tools: i.e. MCEdit, WorldEdit, VoxelSniper

  • Thirdnparty texture packs BUT it's important to keep in mind that others, nincluding judges, will not have your texture pack. You're safest bet isnto stick with the default pack or faithful texture packs.Ã Using annextreme texture pack may hurt your chances of winning

What's Not Allowed: The following will result in disqualification.

  • Do not use constructions created before the contest's announcement date, even if you are the original author.
  • Do not use 3D or 2D auto conversion / import scripts.

  • Do not import schematics from the past.

  • Do not use third party mods that introduce new blocks that are unobtainable in vanilla Minecraft.
  • We can disqualify at any time, including after the submission period.Ã Do not cheat.

NEVER ONCE in these rules is this "rule" of yours mentioned.

Never once is the Y coordinate boundry specified.

Never once is it stated that we cannot edit, add onto, or destroy the pre-existing structures on the map.

The ONLY constraints are "Do not build beyond the borders of the asteroid belt" and "Must be on the provided map." By eliminating my project, you're stating that anything built above or below the asteroid belt/planet is grounds for disqualification.

Check your facts, re-qualify this project.

much appreciated, but it looks like I don't have a chance in this one. Our server's been bugged for 3 weeks, so we weren't able to post the map in time, or finish it :'(

On the other hand, some of my new stuff should tempt your fancy

While its great to see that you guys have so much confidence in yourselves, be sure not to overestimate your abilities, otherwise (sorry to say), it could even become embarrassing if you do not live up to your own expectations. Well, maybe you can do it, maybe you can't, but it looks like it's a great start so I wish you luck on your submission! :D

Finally, someone said the thing that I couldn't say because I couldn't find the words to say that without seeming really mean.

Lol,that isn't the earth, that's just the model we based the current one off of..... which I've come to the conclusion is still too small. Upgrading the size of the planet to a 350 block radius (at least) instead of 200.
