This is my speculative reconstruction of the temple of bel that used to be in palmyra. After doing the temple of zeus in agregento i decided to go for a really unique kind of roman equivalent and landed on this temple because theres no other one quite like this one(that we know of). This temple was dedicated to the mesopotamian god bal and was built it a very unique fusion of near eastern and greco-roman architecture. It also would have been in a large portico lined forum but i just wanted to build the temple itself. over the centurys the temple was closed in the year 385 ,converted into a church then a mosque in 1132 and its ruins were still standing until is was blown up by isis in august of 2015.
Please enjoy it and hope it inspires some more near east roman builds, you can use
it for anything you want just give me credit for building it
