The S.S. Herzogin Louise Elenore was launched at 1881 and only a few months later already fitted out.

Name after the german Princess "Louise Elenore of Hohenlohe-Langenburg", she was ment to become a transatlantic liner.


She was originaly build for the german Atlas-Passagierdampf-Linie (APL) before it became the personal Steam ship Line of the german emperror. After the APL changed their colours they also changed it on the "Herzogin Louise Elenore".


She was then the pride of the APL and their fastest ship until the finalization of the "S.S. Salien".


At a dark moonles night in the July 1897 she collided with an reef. First nothing much happened and they continued their journey, until a few minutes later the firemens of boiler room No. 1 informed the bridge that some rivets blown away from the hull and water leaked inside. Until the moment the Captain reached boiler room No. 1 more rivets popped open and the ship started to flood fast. First then the crew realized that also cargo hold No. 2 was flooded since a couple of minutes.
The engineers and firemens tried to stop the leaking at first, but after a few more minutes the boiler room and cargo hold was already flooded over 4 feet and they had to start the evacuation.
The Herzogin Louise Elenore sunk very fast that night and after already 42 minutes only 3 of th 8 lifeboats reached the water surface just in time. Only 142 people survived.

The S.S. Herzogin Louise Elenore is a total fictional ship and my own creation.
I would say she is my best ship so far and the fully pride of my own fictional shipyard.
I put all my actuall knowledge in her construction and also reused and modificated some interior designs I used for the S.S. Gotha.
