Welcome to The Dimension!
The Dimension is a post-apocalyptic fungal inter-dimensional socialist nightmare world. What does that mean? Well, let me tell you:
The Lore
It all takes place in an alternate timeline. The Soviet Union emerged as the dominant force in Europe after WWII and much more of Europe fell into it's sphere of influence. The Cold War was accelerated as a result of increased Soviet capabilities to the point that both sides were conducting elaborate and outlandish research programs to get ahead. The Soviet Union began a secret research program into alternate dimensions - something that was expected to fail and was always laughed at. Still, the program was funded and held in a government facility built deep beneath a nuclear power plant in the city of Madagrad, the capital of the Madavian ASSR. The Dimension surprisingly emerged after what was at first called a success without explanation, but it soon couldn't be contained within the facility. Now, The Dimension has spread all across the southeast of Madavia and with it has come dangerous fungi, mutants, aberrations and treasures which threaten human life.
I kind of got the idea for a weird fungal growth from a mix of Last of Us meets that purple stuff from War of the Worlds. I've taken a lot of inspiration from some of the things I like (games, books, my studies) and want to craft it into something of my own for Minecraft.
The Textures
The textures are my own work with a few things from Last Days, the End is Extremely Nigh and The Zone tossed in where I don't have anything. Combining these packs has created a pretty unique apocalyptic vibe without losing the Minecraft look (nothing wrong with ultra realistic texture packs, I just enjoy keeping things visibly Minecraft). I've been making 3D models like trees/vegetation, vehicles, decorations, guns etc. and I'll post more of this at some point too. What you see in the house is from a data pack which I don't use anymore, and so some of the pictures are pretty outdated. I'm so slow at working that by the time I get into a groove, Minecraft has updated and there are so many new blocks/items/mobs that I have to deal with.
The Map
I made the world map in WorldPainter. It's large, can't remember how large actually (maybe 10k x 5k?). It's coastal with plenty of rivers, islands, hills, and dense forests. I didn't model the world on any real-life place or make it accurate to any geographic region - it's just sort of a blend of things that I like in a map. I think the coastal environment plus the rivers and hills give it a sort of realistically undeveloped feel. I'm always tweaking something with the map, so the overall render will probably change a lot.The Builds
You'll notice there aren't really any pictures of builds yet (there are a few, but they're outdated too). I plan to make villages, medium towns, industry, and a large metropolis. There will also be decorative builds (hydro towers, oil pipelines, railroads, lighthouses, etc.) The theme of my builds could probably be described as socialist (I'm not going for real Soviet builds, but maybe Soviet-inspired). I'll post build pictures at some point too, but basically I try to keep things small, simple, and somewhat realistic. Nothing fancy. I do modular schematics to get a good variety. For example: 9 sizes of village houses, each with 5 floorplans, each in 7 colour schemes, and about 20 different entranceways to attach to them. 9*5*7*20 = 6300 possible combinations/unique village houses. I'm doing the same thing for apartment buildings.Progress | 20% complete |

Update #4 : by MadAdaMada 02/12/2021 1:01:57 pmFeb 12th, 2021
Working on a new feature: Blowouts, (name will probably change). Check it out in the video. If you're familiar with STALKER, these are my version of "emissions" - random violent storms that roll in almost unannounced. You'll get an emergency alert when one is about to happen. The sky goes dark, then it turns bright yellow, then blue thunder and lightning rolls in overhead. I need to work on them causing damage to things left outside.
I've also added a picture of one of the apartments I've made plus the configurations it comes in. This is a MSHS Series-80B 4-section, 16-storey building in red. There's a series 50, 60, 70A, 70B, 70C, 80A, 80B, 80C, 80D. The way I set up my builds is modular. For example, you can find a series 80B building in 1-4 sections, 4-16 storeys, red/blue/green/yellow, and with elevators, garbage chutes, underground parking, and shopping attached. Each floor of an 80B has 8 apartments, so the one you see here has a whopping 512, all enterable and with balconies.
I've once again changed the forests and the sky, but haven't bothered to take screenshots yet. Just getting back into working on this project, so let me know what you think!
