Today, we're presenting (a little belated due to *erm* ...) our halloween themed special for 2018, Mortremer, a small extract from a village we started! We hope you enjoy :)
Mortremer is a remote gothic town whose glory days have passed a long time ago. Mortremer, once known as Thristram, was branded by a mysterious disease that forced almost all villagers to leave their belongings behind. Nowadays, the cemetery bespeaks the gruesome and unparalleled extent of this disaster.
The local guild hall, once a place of reunion for many local villagers, serves now as housing for those who could not or did not want to leave, since it is one of the few inhabitable buildings left. Whereas the church was the junction where the sick got taken care of.
Mortremer is a village which was built in the times of the foundation of Castaire and is thus one of it's oldest. The main style back then was for sure gothic, so many of the houses in Mortremer resemble this style, particularly it's pointy arches, large windows and steep-narrow roof constructions.
The church is a simple three-nave building with a single bell tower in the front. The entrances are not located at the main facade, but at the side portals. The trefoil choir at the rear side is partly covered within the surrounding mountains and makes for a satanic altar way better than being recognized as a somehow holy place.
The guild hall also is quite an interesting building, consisting of a main wing, intersected by a secondary wing perpendicularly crossing through it. Many small towers with high spired roofs are decorating the edges of the building, while the dominant main tower is used to ring the bells for summoning the guild members to an assembly.
