This is my 2.7 to 1 scale replica of the Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral, which on April 15 2019 was heavily damaged by a fire.
I had the chance to visit the building just two weeks before the fire, and so upon the news breaking out, I immediately began planning and researching for a build of my own, with the goal of wanting to honor the building by giving it as much detail as possible, and constructing it as accurately as possible, with of course some minor improvisations made wherever required.
Here is my representation of it in its full glory, exactly a year after the fire.
I spent the last year building it, with some periods of inactivity. But of course, with the global crisis taking place, I have finally had plenty of time to complete it in the last four weeks.
To research the build, I did plenty of research on Google images and cataloging the photos based on their location in the structure, as well as using Google maps to make use of the photo spheres. I also supplemented the research with photos of my own from my own trip to Paris. Most importantly, I utilized floor plans and made exact guides made out of wool in the floor to help me scale the structure properly.
The cathedral as approximately 145 blocks wide and 370 blocks long (depending on where you start the measurements), and the height of the spire reaches the maximum build height of 256.
This was built with the help of WorldEdit, and was built on 1.14.x.
Hope you guys enjoy!
(a quick note: the interior shots were taken without shaders, because it was too dark otherwise!)

I've finally released a video on the build! A quick tour as well as some of my thoughts on building in general.
