This is part of my story map about the Ancient Anglo-Saxon kingdoms.
In Scandinavia of the Viking Age and among the Germanic peoples, the honey, or brazhny, hall was originally a long structure with a single space. Such buildings belong to the category of so-called longhouses. Since the V century and until the early Middle Ages, the brazhny halls were used as the residence of rulers and their courtiers. The name itself comes from the name of the alcoholic drink honey, which was widely used at feasts and religious ceremonies.
