Kiedy wjeżdżałem do miasta poraził mnie jej ogrom i straszliwy kontrast pomiędzy zabudowaniami Chevreux a gotyckimi łukami katedry. Było to dla mnie dziwne doświadczenie zobaczyć jak głęboka przepaść dzieli potęgę Kościoła i ubóstwo rzemieślników."
