Grandma was a sweet old lady, she always baked cookies and cakes for Tom, every card he ever got from her always had a one hundred dollar bill in it. She spoiled Tom for he was always the only grand child, so Grandma was sure to splurge on him.

Grandma lived alone after grandpa passed, she lived out in wooded country all to her self in that large home. She wasn't the same after the passing though, she would forgot what she would say during a conversation, stare off into nothing, giggle to her self and speak to no one as she scrambled down the dark lonely hallways of her home with her feeble age.

But the strangest thing she would do, is take out her dentures, and talk to them, if she wasn't wearing them then she was carrying them with her where ever she went, like it was a good luck charm while she spoke to herself.

Tom hadn't visited grandma in a few years since Grandpa passed, but his parents needed a vacation to themselves and they asked if he could stay with grandma, Tom reluctantly agreed.

After what felt like hours of swerving, ups and downs, left and right through the dense woods, Tom and his parents arrived. The house was old, dirty, and falling apart. Shingles hung from pieces, the white paint was a greyish brown, windows were dirty and cracked, the plants grandma used to grow were now all dead.

Tom took his luggage from the trunk of the car and said his farewells to the parents leaving for a getaway. He waved as the red lights from the back of the car faded around some trees. He turned about, to see Grandma staring at him silently from the porch, he didn't even hear the door open as it always has a creepy groan when it opened.

Grandma smiled at him toothless, her eyes piercing and black from the saggy eyelids hiding the color, she said in a hushed whisper, "Let's get you inside". Tom didn't say a word, as the door groaned open, he followed her inside as she shuffled ahead in her slippers.

A breeze toyed with his hair as the door closed on its own, the grandma giggled, "That's just him". Tom didn't pay too much attention to her, he knew she wasn't okay in her mind. They reached a hallway full of doors leading to other rooms, she pointed with her withered finger, "This is yours". She opened the door and Tom walked by, the room was the same how it used to be, before Grandpa passed.

Tom dropped his luggage on the dusty bed, springs rattled and crunched beneath. He turned around to face Grandma inches from his face, she whispered quietly again, "Stay inside when the lights are out, Grandpa won't be very happy". Fear clenched Tom, he just shook his head in agreement.

Night fell upon the house after a boring day of watching grandma chatter to herself, upset that she couldn't find her dentures. The house was dark and still, he had to use the bathroom but the room he stayed in didn't have one. Fortunately, he knew there was one at the end of the hallways amongst the collection of doors leading to rooms.

Tom reached for the door handle when he heard something on the other side, it sounded like someone was jumping into a bunch of silly puddy while clapping quickly. Tom was put off from the sound, not something he recognized before and he didn't know of any ghost stories at the house.

The nosie faded away as if it moved from his room, after a few more minutes, Tom opened the door and leaned out, of course nothing was there. He walked down to the restroom, after doing his business he exited from the room and heard thuds from above him, on the second floor.

Curiosity took hold of Tom, and so he walked up the stairs towards the sound he heard. Tom faced the rooms upstairs, one door was open, the echoes of that clapping could be heard.

Tom quietly stepped his way over, avoiding all the creak and groan spots that he remembered years back, as he reached the open room and peered inside, on the bed sat a large pair of dentures, Grandmas head only sticking out from the thing, she looked at Tom and mustered all the energy she cold and screamed, "RUN".

In a frantic, he bolted from the door and all he heard amongst his panicked breathing and foot steps slamming on the squeaking floor, was an unsettling Shruck.

Tom looked backed briefly, the dentures bounced out of the room, teeth chattering together like the sound of someone clapping as it bounced after him. Unsure of what to do, Tom ran back to the room he was staying in and slammed the door shut, securing the lock as he moved a dresser in front of the door.

He could hear the wet slapping grow louder until it was in front of the door, it banged and slammed against the door, teeth chattering for what felt like hours. Then all the noises just silenced immediately.

As he placed his ear on the door, he could hear a voice, old and rough, yet tense and calming. The voice on the other side said, "Come on out Tommy, we're waiting".

It was his grandpa...
