Count with me to 2021 with this extended Advent Calendar!
Simply get yourself an advent calendar chest and get free items once a day, every day of December :D
I even included some higher tier goodies during Christmas and on New Year's Eve.
How to join the fun: A quick overview (read the notes below)
- Install the data pack like you would install any other one.
- Spawn the "beacon" at world spawn, using the command below.
/function bertiecrafter:adcal/beacon/spawn - Place down a double chest and throw a clock on top. The chests will be filled with the advent calendar.
- Every day, I'll publish the unlock command for that day below.
- When you click an unlocked slot in an advent chest, you'll get free items!
- Go brag about your new stuff here. Presents are randomly picked from a predefined group of items, so others might have gotten different goodies.
- The beacon must be placed in always loaded chunks. Chests only allow you to open a slot if it can find a loaded beacon with the right unlock code.
- The "beacon" is only visible in spectator mode and functions as a global tracker of unlock codes.
- Note that each player can only create 1 advent calendar. If any of the chest blocks get destroyed, all items inside will be lost and you won't get a second chance. So make sure the chest is in a safe place and don't want it gone before the end of December.
- For the unlock commands, you simply copy paste it in chat and press enter. All chests in that world will now be able to open the slot that belongs to the indicated day.
- Due to timezones, I can't guarantee everyone will be able to see the unlock command for a certain day on that day. Apologies if you get to open up a slot a day later.
- Do not spoil unpublished codes or items. I can't fully hide them inside the data pack, but know that you won't get any popularity points for giving spoilers. Doing /give is easier than trying to get into a locked slot.

Install Instructions
This is a datapack, it can easily be used in any world or server without any difficulties.
Simply drop the downloaded zip file in the "datapacks" folder of your world save (<world>/datapacks).
Then open your world and do
/reload
In case the datapack doesn't automatically get enabled, run:
/datapack enable "file/[datapack folder name].zip"

I encountered a bug! What do I do now?
I test all my creations, but bugs happen no matter how long you test something. Whenever someone experiences a bug, I do my best to fix the issue. You can help me by providing any useful information. You can never give me enough information, but please send it in a DM instead of placing it in the comments. You can still place a one-liner in the comments stating the issue to make the community aware, but that alone isn't enough to help me fix the issue.
- Checklist: Are you using the right version? Did you do /reload after dropping the datapack in? After /reload, does the datapack show up green in /datapack list?
- What is the issue? Does the datapack not seem to be working at all or is there a specific feature you are having issues with?
- What happened? Please give me all the steps needed to reproduce the issue. The faster I can experience it, the faster I can solve it.
- What did you expect to happen instead? This helps me understand your point of view and determine if the issue described is actually the issue I need to fix. The bug you are experiencing could just be a side effect of something else that doesn't behave as expected.
