So I haven't made a blog lately because I have been thinking of ideas for this one topic I really wanted to cover. It may get a bit 'ranty' a long the way so please forgive me for that. I wanted to cover the topic of 'Diamonds, Subscribers, and The Feedback people get and who gets it'. It's sort of a big topic and I'm prepared to write till I'm out of ideas, so here it goes.

The Diamond is a unique way of representing the 'like' button, or at least that's what it was meant to be. People do abuse even this simple feature, how and why? Well people say that giving diamonds to everyone is good, which it really is. Though there is a darker side to giving diamonds to every project you come across. In my opinion, effort is what makes a difference between a project that should have lots of diamonds, and one that does not. Think about it, A young happy soul writes a blog for 2 hours before uploading it to pmc and making sure that it has the best editing, and the best thumbnail, so on and so forth. He gets little feedback, only a couple diamonds and he does not understand why (this is a personal experience). Then theres another person on pmc, who makes a short, bad, blog about something that so many people have said before, and gets at least 10 diamonds and lots of feedback, isn't there something strange here? I love to help people and give feedback, but I do not use the diamond for short bad blogs, if I see potential, I try to comment and help out with suggestions. If there is something that looks like it took some good effort, it deserves your diamond. Another way to look at it is, people that get good feedback on effortless blogs, will continue making effortless blogs. It's something that I think we should all take in mind, and use the diamond properly. Give a diamond to those who deserve it and help those who do not, not by diamonding, but by commenting and giving helpful feedback. I've given blogs as an example, but this can happen with texture packs, mods, projects and skins too. Just remember what the diamond is.

This is a special way of thanking someone, it's in my opinion reserved for the 'I want to see more' title. Thing is, most people subscribe to see more, and be updated when the user creates a new project/blog/skin/texture pack/mod knowing that it will be good, or what they think is good. Now some people diamond because again, they want to make the person happy. It does not hurt to subscribe, but it's something that I think should just be for those you really want to see more of. Or it's just that their project is really good and you want to further thank them. Some people will subscribe so that in the future, when someone goes to that page, they will see the names of the first few subscribers and click on them. This isn't really a big problem though, it's just something to keep in mind.

It's more helpful to give someone feedback then to diamond. Unlike subscribing or liking, commenting feedback is something that everyone can get, whether it's good or bad. What I'm saying is, apart from diamonding, you can just say 'good job' or 'I like this' in the comments, and it makes someone feel great. On the other hand, if someone is making bad projects, give them some constructive criticism and show them their mistakes. This will help the person make better projects in the future. WAIT, many people do not know how to make comments, it's something that starts arguments and can ruin someone's day as well. Many people will get mad when they see someone with a different opinion than them and being to swear, use caps lock and be rude in every way. This is not how to deal with things. Even if someone is doing this to you, do not fight fire with fire, it will not help. Heres what you do: If you see a project that needs work, in a calm manner, prove your point without violence, tell them what you think they are doing wrong, be happy about things and try to tell them that they are sort of on the right track. If you see a comment that is violent towards you or any other user, do not swear at them in return. Rather again, be calm, prove your point, tell them that their way of dealing with things is wrong and tell them why. This will change the kind of person you are, and it really defines your maturity. So why don't we all be mature here and fix the problem at hand.

I've kind of already talked about this but I'll just say a bit more. Effort is something that will define everything about you on pmc, what you put in is what you get out. Though it's not true without the last 3 things I've talked about, it's still important to put in effort. For a mod, this is simply making something that took you a lot of code. For a texture pack, it's about changing the textures to what you want and not just changing one thing, spending some time on it (some time is at least an hour). For projects (builds), It's not about the size of something, because the size has no relevance with effort. It's about the amount of time something took you, if you made a quick project that took you 2 minutes, do not be expecting diamonds and subscribers. Now skill plays a big role in projects, and some people could build for ages and still have a pretty bad build, just because they do not really have the skill. Of course, you find what you're good at, and if you're not good at building, find something else. Maybe you're good at blogs and words, anyway what I'm trying to say is: Whatever you do, put in the effort.

Ok lets recap, diamonds should be reserved for the ones who put in effort and the ones that you think are good. Subscribing is not to show yourself off on someone's page but to either really thank the person or to see more. Feedback is for everyone, whether it's good or bad. Feedback has a darker side though, and must be used in a mature way. Effort will define your place. On an added note, I have this rule that I follow on pmc and I think that it's good for people who want to be more popular of pmc.

Rule:

Only upload something that you have truly put effort into, something unique, creative and make sure it has been made to the best of your skill.

So I think I've proved some points to the world. Remember, I am not directing the 'bad projects problem' to anyone in particular, It's a general thing that I have seen over pmc since I joined it.

If you did not side with me or think that my judgement is wrong, please give me some feedback in a calm and mature manner, I might always be wrong.

You can also give me feedback if you want me to add anything or if you simply want to say something nice or share a personal experience, I'm all ears.

Anyway thanks for reading this blog, I will be making more in the future when my inspiration comes, but until then, please look at my other things, subscribe maybe if you haven't already and I wish you a very nice day!

Just curious but why is the text so small? o.O" it's a little hard to read properly and some people who use this site might have bad vision problems or have other conditions that affects them being able to read small writing...

I haven't got bad vision but I do find it hard to read and had to use the Chrome magnifier for it, please consider increasing the text site from 7 to possible 12 or something higher..

Thanks for the info though regardless..

I was thinking that diamonds might have some sort of other use, but that cleared it up a LOT! Thank you very much! :)
