Everything was black, I knew I wasn't dead, I just knew it. And also I could feel a sharp, burning pain on my chest. For a second I couldn't remember what happened or why my chest hurt so bad. I tried to get a glimpse of something or hear any sort of noise. I wondered to myself "what is this place?"

Then I heard a familiar voice,

"That bite looks painful, I'm surprised he's actually alive," says John, we've been friends ever since 9th grade, he also lives in the apartment next to mine.

I finally crack open my eyes to see his pale face staring at me, a look of worry and horror in his expression.

"What happened, how did you find me?" I slur.

"Well," John begins. "I woke up and heard a loud thud come from your room,so I knew something was wrong. When I got there I saw that on your chest..." He gestured to my chest, and what I saw when I looked at it was a large, grey, swollen bump. Then he continues "... I almost thought you were dead, but when I realized you were breathing I rushed you to the hospital."

"Really?" I asked.

"Where else would I take you, the park?" He says, with some sarcasm in his voice.

"I owe you dude, thanks." I tell him, glad that somebody could rescue me.

"Hey, just be glad your alive," he says before closing the door behind him.
