I sit in the bedroom of my castle painting a lovely picture. It shows Steve, not the pessimist I am now, but the old adventurous miner who loved exploring. That Steve is long gone, and I doubt he will ever return.
What kind of world is this? Pain, suffering, animal slaughtering and greed. This is not the world I want to live in, not the world I once loved to roam through. I’ve been to all three worlds, I’ve battled vicious monsters, gone where no one has gone before, and yet, I have never seen such evil as the inner evil - my inner evil.
Through the window of my bedroom, I see the joyful animals, I see them and think of their relatives, the relatives that failed to survive, or rather, the relatives that I failed to protect from the “evil” of this world.
These words are not the words of Steve, they are the words of his heart. Sometimes, certain events make you see the world differently, leaving a dark thought in your mind that can never be erased. This is my journey, leading me to follow a path which I can only walk alone.
In the moments of my sadness, the rain started to pour outside, almost as if it was telling me something was about to happen, and it sure was.
Lying in my bed, I heard a growl, a wolf growl. The only wolf in the area was my own wolf - Bone, but what could be wrong with him?
When I arrived outside where he usually was, he was not there. In the distance I could see a man-like figure carrying something, but I knew exactly who it was and what he was carrying. The time had come for me to get my emotions straight and go after him, not for myself, but for my best friend - Bone.
I took out my armor, and opened the chest where I had put my sword. The memories with that sword consumed me, both the pleasant and unpleasant ones. I shut the door of my house and started heading towards my desired destination.
I arrived at the village and went inside the secret room beneath one of the houses. Inside I saw the most horrifying thing - Bone, butchered. I felt hate, not towards whoever did this, but towards myself for not being able to get here in time. The butcher stepped into the room, surprised that I was here. I had only one thing to say to him:
“Why?”
“Emeralds, they are what is important in this world, are they not?” - he answered.
I jumped at him with my sword, but he did not try to get away. His life was now in my hands, and like so many times before, I had to do justice. But before I could go through with slaying him, I asked myself:
“Who is the true monster?”
And then the answer was clear to me. Murder was not the answer to this, for it would make me far worse than the victim.
From that moment, I decided to start a new life, a new journey, a search to find way to fix myself - my pursuit of happiness.
