In my old blog about Heroes and Builders, I noted that there was a smaller, lesser-known tribe I’d discuss later. Well, later is here, and I’m finally ready to start talking about who I believe to be the first users of real magic.

How about a question: Who built the Ocean Monuments? Many people think that it was a huge base to combat the rising water levels, while others think it is a fancy religious structure…

Well, I think that Minecraft Dungeons has the answer (It always does, it seems). See, in the Hidden Depths DLC we find ourselves exploring a long-lost monument, guarded by Guardians, Elder Guardians and of course, the dreaded Ancient Guardian. However, as fun as the DLC was, I was more concerned with the architecture and the design of the building itself. The building looks nothing like the other structures in the game, and it also has enormous statues, all of which look like robed Villagers. I am suggesting that the structure IS in fact, a religious site, and it was used by an uncontacted tribe of Heroes, whom I shall refer to as “Cultists”.

They seemed to be the first users of read magic, even before the Illagers. The drowned Cultists that still live in the now-flooded temple use eternal knives, as well as soul knives–both of which strongly resemble ancient Brazilian sacrificial knives used in the real world for cult-like sacrifices.

Eventually, their once towering monument sunk, due to rising water, and many of them drowned.

The Cultists seemed to be adept in necromancy, hence the drowned necromancer mobs that roam the sea’s floor. They were very reclusive, always trying to be left alone with their practices.

MatPat also made a theory on this, and some of his points seem absurd, but he does still have some merit in his theories. Another neat parallel, if you want more evidence, is the fact that the number of gold in the monument is just enough to make a “god apple” (at least, it was, before the recipe was removed).

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading this theory, I know it was a shorter one, but I hope you continue to keep on LORINGGG see y’all nexttime!
