The footsteps were moving away. I was definitely secure from those horrendous beasts. I just knew they were after me, after me to put me in a lab and analyze me. I departed the alleyway and headed to my beloved cafe. I opened the door just as the owner greeted me with a grin. I came here nearly every day.

"Hello, Aliyah, want your usual? I can give it to you on the house." He always smiled as he talked to me.

I nodded in a somewhat uncertain way, I wasn't feeling my best and didn't feel like talking. He handed me my usual, a glass of water and a vegetarian sub. I felt blank, thinking of my disease. I was born without a heart. Meaning I wouldn't have blood pumping throughout my system. My parents thought I would die, but somehow I survived.

Now everybody knows my name. I have been in the paper numerous times by now. I finished eating my sub, cleaned up the table, and left the cafe.

I started to walk home. Since I did lose my heart, people say I have no emotions, which is true. I also have no blood, which makes me weaker than most people. Sometimes people think of me as a shadow. A shadow of what I was supposed to be. A shade of my real brain. I arrived at my house. I pulled the key out of my pocket and opened the door. There we security cameras throughout the house so my mother and father know if I exit and enter the house. I'd say we were more of a rich family because of all the donations. They were made so I could get surgery, but nobody wanted to do the transplant.

I walked to my room and sat on the bed for an hour. I finally went to sleep, but when I woke up, I would be awoken by a huge surprise.
