Welcome Ladies and Gentleblocks to another blog. Today's blog will be shorter and a bit different to my usual style. I wanted to write a few paragraphs on Remembrance Day (11th of November) and I've also included a cinematic I've done as part of the commemoration of those who died for our freedom.
For those Americans amongst you (numerous I'm sure), Remembrance Day is essentially Veterans Day but for the countries of the British Commonwealth or countries previously in the Commonwealth. It is a day to remember those who fought and died in the First World War and Second World War, allowing us to remain free.
I realise that most of you have been 'spammed' with wartime remembrance speeches, ceremonies, etc.. throughout your life and I myself sometimes get sick of the constant reminding of the atrocities that occurred during the war. In a way, its good that I'm constantly reminded what thousands upon thousands of young men experiences during those terrible times.
We regularly play games like Call of Duty, Battlefield and even Halo, where we experience war and the fighting and the tactics. However what is missing, is the raw emotion and fear and bravery that those men in real life experienced. It is important to remember them, so that we know they didn't die for nothing but more that they died for us. They deserve to be remembered and deserve to be praised and respected.
I know that many of you may be part of the armed forces and when the day comes where you'll have to go out and face that fear, you'll be comforted by the thought that you will be remembered. I'd like to take this opportunity to remember my great grand-father that died during the war defending his friends against an assault. I know that thanks to him, I'm now living a happy healthy life.
It's customary to have a 2-minute period of silence in order to remember them but obviously we can't do that through text. So all I ask, is that you just spend a minute or two remembering those who did die in the awful war, no matter what country you come from and that you respect their bravery.
Thank you all for reading this and I hope it wasn't too 'soppy'. I just felt the need to write a blog or something about it to do my part in remembering them.
We Will Remember Them
Thanks for getting this on the reel!
