So for anyone who has ever been on the skins section... you see these alot:
Yeah, they are pretty bad. You then sit there and look at all of the tools on GIMP and say, "They couldn't have used any of these?" Well no they don't use GIMP, they make these abominations on Minershoes.com, a cheap and over-popular skin editor. Today we will go over 2 things: Why people use this, and what can they do besides this.
Why?
Simple, the program is super easy to use. Is that a good thing? Hell no. It's easy due to how it has only 2 tools: paint and copy. So yes, you can only paint a pixel a color from an over-sized color plate and copy another color. no wonder why all these skins stink, the damn editor is to simple for any real shading or texturing. All people make are recolored versions of the same skin.
What?
If you really want to make a skin without GIMP's intimidating tools, use the editor on the Skindex. It has a better color selection, allows you to directly draw on an in-game model of you skin, allowing you to see how the skin will look like. You can select certain parts of the body for precise texturing, and it has a good number of tools. Such as: Paint, Auto Tone, Undo, Redo, Color Picker, and the z and x keys darken/ lighten the current color. It certainly is the better editor for new skinners.
