Today I will be interviewing, xXSarahLiciousXx She is an inspiration of mine, and she has amazing art, so make sure to check out her page after the interview!
1. How did you find out about PMC?
Way back when I first started playing Minecraft I was on the hunt for the perfect skin. The first website I tried was Miners Need Cool Shoes, which my younger sister, BlazeKitteh, had shown me. I wanted a skin of the Vocaloid, Luka Megurine, but I didn't really like any of the ones on that site. From there I just decided to Google "Luka Megurine minecraft skin" and the first link took me to PMC. After seeing how much talent and awesome work was on this site, I decided to make an account.
2. When and how did you hear about Minecraft?
In 7th grade, which was like 2 years ago, one of my best friends was playing the pocket edition on her iPod. I thought it had looked boring at first, but after I told my sister about it she wanted me to download the free trial version on Xbox 360. That was when the both of us started to spend days playing it.
3. When did you start doing both traditional, and digital art?
Oh man, I have been drawing literally since I could hold a pencil, although I don't think I got very good at it until very recently. I started traditional art seriously in maybe 4th or 5th grade, seriously as in actually trying to draw things worth sharing and improving my skills. I started digital art extremely recently. I got my tablet in June this year, so it hasn't been very long at all. I'm still learning more about it and how to make my drawings look neat.
4. What are your two favorite colors to do digital art with?
I've never really thought about this... I'd have to say blue and brown, especially when it comes to hair. Blue is one of my favorite colors, and there are so many pretty shades of blue to work with. Also, for some reason I absolutely love coloring brown hair. I'm not exactly sure why.
5. Who has been your biggest inspiration so far?
I would have to say by far it has been LIL_Danica. Ever since I started PMC I have been in love with all the anime skins that she's made. It really inspired me to keep improving my skins. Also, her art is absolutely AMAZING! She is one of my biggest art inspirations right now, like I love all of her art. Although she doesn't post on PMC anymore, I always look forward to seeing more art from her on Deviant Art. She's also just an overall great person. She's been super nice and her comments on my works always brighten my day.
6. Why did you start making skins for both yourself and other people?
I honestly started making skins because I don't like using other people's work. It might be a little odd, but I always like to do things for myself. I've only used one skin that was from another person, and that was when I first started playing Minecraft. From then on, I only used skins that I had made myself and took pride in them, even though looking back they were absolutely atrocious.
Because of this, I had actually started to improve my skinning. I had thought "Okay, maybe I'm actually not that bad at this." At first, I never posted any of my skins but since I thought I had made some pretty decent ones I thought I might as well put my long forgotten PMC account to use and contribute some skins. They still weren't that good, but I noticed that there were so many of my favorite anime characters that didn't have a Minecraft skin.
I thought that maybe there would be people like me looking for certain skins, so I started to specialize in anime skins. It made me so proud to get subscribers and each download made me so happy, so I wanted to continue and make more skins, as well as improve my skinning so that people who maybe don't want to skin or are too shy to post their skins will have a nice skin of their favorite characters to use. That was my motivation, to put out nice skins that would make people happy to use.
7. How often do you upload skins?
I used to upload and skin pretty frequently, but with school, studying, and afterschool activities, as well as wanting to play League of Legends as much as I can in my free time, I haven't had much time to skin recently. I've make it a goal to post at least 2 skins each month now.
8. What is your favorite eye color to use in skinning?
I absolutely adore blue eyes. They are my favorite eye color to use for really anything, be it art or skinning. Althought I don't think very many of my skins have blue eyes...
9. What is your favorite character in League of Legends?
Oh my, I don't think I can choose just one. I'll have to pick one from each role that I play, if that would be okay.
My main role, support, is Nami, my favorite AD carry is Caitlyn, and my favorite mage is Ahri.
*I can't play top lane or jungle to save my life...*
10. What do you think is your favorite out of all of your art?
So far, I would have to say my drawing of Avallon's skin, "It's Getting Dark in Here." I just really like the coloring I did, I think it's my best so far. I'm still improving, so I think it's safe to say that each new piece that I do will be my favorite.
