-The newest 'chapter' of Lorenas life. The coming to a new world. Asulon. I didn't much enjoy this part, as there is a lot of sadness. Not that her life was anything but sadness, but this is where she looses all her ties with her previous live, and starts new.-

The Journey....

She glanced around her surroundings, it was dark, and the air felt dense. There was an overwhelming smell of oldness and dust in the air. Everything she could see was gray with a tint of purple, emitting from the portal. She could barely see in front of her and edged towards her left, where she held onto the wall, following it forwards.

She cringed as she approached a bridge. Holes, large enough for her to fall in scattered the bottom of the bridge and ahead of her, a giant spider stood guarding the way. From the distance she was at, she could not tell if it were real, or fake. As she timidly approached the giant spider, she heard skittering noises behind her, turning her head slightly she stared into the darkness, only to see small dots of piercing red light. She yelped and ran as fast as she could towards the large spider, and the entrance to what seemed another room. This one was lit better, and in front of her stood a large, spiral staircase.

Without a second thought, and without looking back, she dashed up the stairs, carefully avoiding the holes which threatened her. It took her, what seemed a life time, to reach the top. She closed her eyes sharply as she emerged out of the stairs and from the underground. There she stood in silenceo ¦.

The land looked much like Aegis. Green grass and trees, blue sunny skieso ¦but the atmosphere was different. The people there were anxious. Lorena knew straight away. Their worried faces told stories worse than her own, and she could tell they wanted to get away from this place. She hovered around the crowds surrounding the stair way for an hour, attempting to learn more of this place, without having to disturb the others. She overheard that there were boats, much like the small man had told her earlier, down a rocky path. She carefully followed the only path she could find, it didno t look rocky, but she was willing to at least search.

Happily she smiled as she caught sight of the docks. There stood several large ships. More than one per race, and many smaller vessels. The dwarfs was easily identifiable. Gray in colour, much resembling stone and the orcs had their great big ship. She watched the people as they boarded their own ships, she watched as the elves boarded one ship and the humans boarded the other which stood next to it. She was torn. She had not lived with the elves of Malinor since she was a child and was sure it would bring back painful memories, at the same time she had never lived with the humans, and despised them, but she thought they may be more welcoming than her own kind.

She sighed as she reluctantly boarded the elven ship. Glancing around, she recognised no one. Which was a relief, yet it filled her with fear. Without lifting her head, she climbed the ladder down to the bottom of the ship, where she huddled into a corner until they set sail.

Drifting off to sleep, she wept. She would never have the chance to visit her parents burial place. Her childhood home was more than likely destroyed by now and everything she had known, was goneo ¦.

The boat set sail only two days after she had arrived. She had just enough food for herself and barely moved from the corner where she sat. When she first felt the boat rock, she stood herself up and climbed back to the top. Clinging onto the railings, the only things that protected her on the vessel, and peered over the side. She had never sailed on water before, and she was certain she would not enjoy the rideo ¦

Not long after they had set off, perhaps a day into the trip, violent storm hit the ships as they sailed. Burning holes in the sales and breaking masts. It was a terrible journey, something she would surely never forget. Yet, she felt relief. Nobody had spoken to her, nobody had recognised the stranger. This could be a brand new start for her and she liked this idea.

As the journey progressed, she began to talk to the other elves on the ship. Gradually making friends with a small handful. Offering starving children pieces of food she had spare. Offering the cold her jacket. The people began to take notice of the kind newcomer. In return of her kindness, some would allow her to have their bed for the night or offer her food. She was grateful to them, as they were to her.

As the captains of the ships spotted land close by, the waters began to churn, sending the ships swaying from side to side. The children clung to their parents as they hid within the ships belly. With an almighty crash, the elven vessel collided with something. Water began to gush into the ship and the passengers were quick to flee. The front of the ship had been completely ripped from the ship. Passengers belongings drifted in the water as the smaller vessels carefully carried those who could not swim, to shore. Lorena shook her head as a stranger offered her a lift and instead helped the last family into the small boat. She watched them set sail to land and jumped into the water after them.

It was only a short swim and, when she arrived to dry lands, she looked back at the ship in horror. She had little with her to remind her of Aegis now, and the one physical tie she had to that once beautiful land, lay broken in the waters of a new, terrifying world.

She followed the crowds who seemed to be following others, much like sheep she thought. With strangers offering her clothes and the likes to keep her dry and well, she trudged up the paths. Eventually arriving at the Cloud Sanctuary. A beautiful structure, one much larger than the one back in Aegis. The monks which inhabited the temple welcomed the strangers with open arms, caring for the sick and guiding the others to homes which they may settle in. Lorena felt calm and, decided that she would spend her time much like the monks, offering help to those who needed it.

Little did she know that this is where her life would change for the bettero ¦.
