Mojang said in their dev Q&A that they won't be adding binoculars so I decided to add them myself. This changes the spyglass's item, GUI overlay, name in language files (English only) and the positioning of the item in hand, inventory and on the ground. This pack will also work with packs that remove or change the GUI overlay, just put those packs on top of this one.
This pack originally did give you a wider field of view when the spyglass was initially released in 20w45a. Mojang has since then changed the way the overlay works so I don't know how to change the rendering to work like it did in 20w45a. My current compromise tries to not be obtrusive while also not stretching the texture too much.
Warning if you play with your character left handed, it looks wonky when you hold it up to your face and I can't do anything about it.

I would like to use it but I'm on minecraft bedrock.
Also, i know you said that the black bars cannot be removed, however it would be cooler if this gave you a bigger field of view (bc its really small right now) maybe wider and taller. A suggestion for the black bars, maybe blur them or make them stay black but with a bit of transparency
With the black bars, I'm only able to give a taller fov. I'll think about making it a little taller.
