Hello! This is my entry for the Oc&Lore Jam hosted by MissShroom! You may recognize this character as Mars, an OC I created recently :D This is an alternate outfit because her original one wouldn't work well. Here's all her info and lore! (Everything in parenthesis is what the names mean)

home planet: phaedra (cretan princess, her name means bright)

adoptive parents/aunts: virgo (zodiac of the maiden) + andromeda (a galaxy)

for years, neighboring planets in galaxies far far away had been having star wars (i had to) over the control of each respective galaxy. there are about 50 or so planets per galaxy each fighting for central control. (sorry if it's confusing)




mars was born on priapus, a planet a few light years away from phaedra (priapus - god of procreation, guardian of gardens/vineyards). her biological parents, who are unknown to her, were key fighters in the said star war for the galaxy where priapus was located. after her father, a commander for the priapus army, was murdered on a mission to conquer western pasiphaë (queen of crete, goddess of witchcraft/sorcery). her mother, knowing that the time she and the other residents of priapus had was limited due to the death of one of their head commanders, sent mars off to phaedra to live with her aunt andromeda. it's a good thing she did, because not even 48 hours later, the army of priapus surrendered and the planet was nuked, causing the remaining inhabitants of priapus to be wiped out (most evacuated so their specific species lives on).




andromeda had never really been in close contact with her younger brother due to her moving across galaxies to start a new life at a young age. she'd never raised a child before nor intended to have children of her own because it was never in her girlfriend's interest to, so having to be a mother figure to mars was a struggle to adapt to. until mars was about 15 or so, she had been shielded from the details of the star wars until one day, troops from polyxena (some princess) marched into the town and started several riots. neither of her aunts had ever been involved with the fighting - virgo is a botanist (this is why mars shows an interest in studying plants) and andromeda is a baker who runs a small business. once these rioters and fighters burned down many buildings, including her aunt's bakery, mars changed. she knew she wanted to get her revenge on the polyxenian troops that dared to enter her town. she told andromeda and virgo about her decision. while virgo was completely supportive of mars' choice, andromeda didn't want her to become a warrior, especially since she was just shy of 16. plus, she knew that mars may be the only blood-related family member she had left and couldn't risk losing her niece. this caused a fight between virgo and andromeda, but eventually was settled and andromeda allowed mars to go fight.


now 17, mars is an apprentice to castor (one of the gods in gemini), a swordsman for phaedra's army. because she's not 18 just yet, she can't actually fight in any battles, but she is allowed to go with the troops. the army has successfully conquered 27 of the planets in their galaxy, making them the current power holder for their galaxy. however, this makes them a central target for attacks. being a part of a celestial army means that you travel to other planets to fight and research. mars really enjoys visiting the other planets, learning to fight, and researching plant species for her aunt, but she can't stay in one place for too long or else she gets bored. she also doesn't take insanely strict orders too well - honestly, the army is pretty much the exception to this.




wip - near future events

on mars' 18th birthday, castor gives mars the best gift of all: allowing her to fight in a battle that they'll surely win. mars is overly ecstatic about this, maybe a little too ecstatic, because she hops into a travel capsule (what they use to travel between planets/galaxies) without realizing it's the one that leads to earth, which is strictly forbidden. castor panics and tries to unlock the capsule but stupidly hits launch (he isn't very bright sometimes tbh). mars is sent to a place where no alien had been before her (well at least in like 100 years).


after realizing she's stranded on earth with no way home, mars freaks out. she'd never been taught to repair capsules because pollux (the other god in gemini, also castor's twin brother) is a procrastinator and said he'd teach her eventually. she knows that she'll stick out because of her alien appearance, so she just hides in an alleyway for a while, until she is approached...
