St. Georg (Saint George) Is a Church in Bocholt, North Rhine Westphalia, Germany.
It was build in the year 1415 in late Gothic architectural style, and was finished 1486. 1593 the Tower was destroyed by a lighting strike, and rebuilt. This happened again in the year 1745. Whereas the spire depicted in the build was built. This one was made in Baroque style and dominated the sillhouette of the city along with the Church of our lady which has a similar spire, which even still exist nowadays.
During the Massive british air raids on the small non industrial town on the Dutch border this church was demolished, and again rebuilt. The tower nowadays is in Simplistic modernistic style with a pyramidical shape. Also the roof was rebuild in a simpler style, it is more smooth nowadays and doesnt have the single gables over each window it once had.
The tower, which stood before the war was taller than it is now,
82 Meter tall.
