My first major build of 2020 is the 1:1 scale reconstruction of the Mausoleum of Hadrian as it is now thought to have appeared in 320.AD. which of course means This is a collaborative build with hherlev of roma antiquae 320 A.D. My reconstruction is built based on newer information from cambridge university press and the atlas of ancient rome so it looks different than most other versions based on older models and has its ancient interior because of that.

Some History

Emperor Hadrian commissioned his tomb to be built sometime between 134 and 138 A.D. on the right bank of the tiber river matching the overall size of proportions of the completely full mausoleum of Augustus across from it. Later in 139 A.D. a year after hadrian died his ashes were placed in the mausoleum and it continued to be used by successive emperors until emperors Caracallas death in 217.
In the year 401 the mausoleum began its transformation into a fortress with its inclusion into the aurelian walls built around rome with most of its funerary urns and decorations being lost in the sackings of rome in 410 and 537 beginning in the 14th century the pope converted the structure into the castelo st angelo named for the legend of the archangel michael that appeared ontop of the castelo after the end of a plauge in 590. from then to 1901 the castelo st angelo served as a papal fortress and now it stands as a museum.

Please enjoy and hope it inspires some more roman builds, you can use it for anything you want just give me credit for building it

Hey, I know this might be outta nowhere, but, if, theoretically, I wanted to make, like, a build of Castel Sant' Angelo, would it be permissible if I were to use this as a base? Just want to know just in case. Also, beautiful build, like all of your others.

Of course, I would certainly try to do that. That said, sometimes I'm a bit slow at completing things. I still have some other castle recreations I have to complete, in fact. I'll probably save a castle as complex as Sant'Angelo for after I'm done with those. Sometimes I'll start things and then get totally distracted from finishing them...
