The Amerigo Vespucci is a fully rigged school ship that was ordered and completed together with her sister ship the Cristoforo Colombo in 1928 for the Italian Navy. They both served until 1943 where the Cristoforo Colombo was given as war reparation to the USSR and eventually scrapped. While her sister ship the Amerigo Vespucci is still in service to this day in the Italian Navy as a school ship with a service life of 91 years and no plans to be decommissioned yet. She takes part in many tall ship races and sailing parades, her biggest rival is the German tall ship Gorch Fock. She was named after the Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci, in who's honor the name ''America'' was given to the New World.

I wanted to build this just because it's been on my mind for a long time, I'm still not very proficient with more modern shaped ship hulls and the Amerigo Vespucci has a quite odd stern curvature and it was a bit tricky, but I'm quite happy with the result.

Texture pack I used to build this: John Smith Legacy JSC

Beautiful ship. How are you making these so fast?

Thank you! And well it depends, I only build in my free time so about 3 hours a day, sometimes even 4 or 5 but not always and not every day. Usually for a medium sized ship like the Leon Trionfante or HMS Agamemnon or the Vasa... I spend 20-30 minutes planning the ship, then about 1 to 2 hours building the hull and then another 40-50 minutes of adding details/decorations. Then finally I spend 30-40 minutes with the masts and rigging and in the end about 20 minutes of adding sails, usually it's 3-5 minutes for each sail so it varies on the quantity and surface area. Then I would also need to account for mistakes or remakes of certain parts I don't like so adding another hour I usually spend 4-5 hours building a ship. Of course then with a smaller ship like the HMS Terror it's much less time like little less than 3 hours, while with a larger ship like my two first ships of the line I could take up to 6 hours and for the Vespucci I took about 6-7 hours.
And wow this comment is long.
