It seems like almost every single blog uploaded on this site these days never makes it past the submission guidelines.
It's a pity, really, since blogging should be a much more talented area, but unfortunately, most of it is reported and deleted within an hour of uploading.
Even the ones that DO make it past generally aren't amazing, but of course, there are exceptions, are there not?
In this series, I want to make the moderators' lives a little easier by making it very clear what IS a blog, what is NOT a blog, and how to actually make a GOOD blog.
I've already uploaded the first part of this series, dealing with interviews. Now, this one is going to explain the difference between what belongs in the blogging section, and what belongs in the forums.
Well, I hope several members out there have learned enough to avoid making blogging mistakes. I appreciate you taking the time to read this, and let's hope all the moderators can sleep well tonight. PEACE OUT!

Special and Announcement blogs
Allow me to quote from the rules why these type of blogs are specifically not allowed, and then I'll go into more detail.
"Reaching any form of milestone such as a certain number of subscribers, time since registration with the site, etc. is not a reason to create a blog. Planet Minecraft is not a social media application and that sort of information should be kept in the "About Me" section of your profile."
"Announcement" blogs are perhaps the #1 blogs I see the most. These "blogs" solely exist to "inform" the community of something the author thinks is important, but the truth is, 99% of these people are at level 1 and have next to no subscribers. Nobody knows who they are, but they think they need to let everybody know of something very minor. Here are some examples of "announcement" blogs:
* "I'm now taking skin requests!"
* "I'm quitting the site" / "I'm taking a break"
* "Future uploading plans"
* "Merry/Happy -insert holiday here-!"
And what about "Specials" blogs?
* "Oh my goodness, I'm now at level -insert level here-! I just wanted to
let you know!"
* "Thanks for helping me reach -insert number here- subscribers!"
* "I've been on the site for -insert amount of time-! Oh, how the time
flies!"
People, these are not reasons to make a blog. A "blog" is a piece of written work that will give feedback/contribute to the community in some way; it's not a place for people to keep up on the latest news on people they've likely never even heard of before.
To be truthful, though, I DID accidently break the "Special" blogs rule. Now, before you say I'm a hypocrite, hear me out. I didn't just state I was at level 30. The blog named each of my individual friends and I gave reasons for each why I was thankful for them. Also, it wasn't just about level 30 anymore; they had helped me through a depression. Moderators, I apologize for breaking the rules. It won't happen again.

Server advertisements
I'm a little bit confused when there's a special uploading place for servers on PMC, but somebody still decides to upload/advertise it in the blogging section instead.
Don't do that.
I know a lot of you want to advertise the cool server you've made, but the blogging section is NOT the place to do it. We don't need the already-ruined blogging section clogged with stuff that can and should be in another category.
If anything, uploading your server in the server area is much better than uploading it as a blog. Why?
1. You can post a cool banner of your server.
2. You can show off multiple pictures of your server.
3. You can write the IP large and clear.
4. It shows how many players are currently online.
5. You're allowed to bump your server every 24 hours.
6. By not uploading it in the blogging section, no poor user will have to report it and no moderator will have to waste their time deleting the blog and become sad. ;-;
"But wait!" You say. "What if I need staff recruitment?" Do not fear! I mentioned the forums before, haven't I? Yes I did. Simply go to the forums and scroll down to "server recruitment". Feel free to make any staff application you want there without upsetting the moderators!

Introductions
So say you're a new member on PMC. Welcome! Make sure to follow and read the rules so that I don't have to report any of your submissions later on. :P One of these types of submissions are newly-joined member introductions.
I don't get how this community somehow manages to post everything in the blogging section when there is literally an option to do it in the forums. It'd save a lot of hassle!
Introductions aren't allowed simply for spamming issues and the fact that - no offense - they don't really contribute to the community that much. Imagine going through the blogging area trying to find something good buried underneath all these people you don't really care about. That would be pretty annoying, is it not? Thankfully, our two lords Paril and Cyprezz understand that new members need a way to become noticed, so there's a specific section labeled "Introductions" on the forums. You can say anything you want about yourself there, and other members can reply and welcome you and start a fairly good conversation. Doesn't that sound so much better? I thought so.

Questions
I know we as humans can't possibly know everything and occasionally can run into problems, Minecraft-related or not. So clearly your best decision is making a blog about it, right?
Not.
Please don't ask questions using a blog. In fact, it's even one of the things that appears right above your blog as you're writing it. And since Paril and Cyprezz are so smart, there's once again a perfect place in the forums to do this instead. You see, it's an entire subsection called "Help". Whether you messed up something in Minecraft, need help setting up a server, or have a problem in real life (why do you not use Yahoo is beyond my understanding :P), this area is the go-to place for asking any question you have - as long as it's appropriate of course.
The best part about using the forums is that people will actually respond. The forums are there for several reasons - to clear up blogging spam, to encourage discussions, and to have fun publicly.
Not.
